Soliloquy.

To flee, or not to flee: that is the question:

Whether it is more reputable to stay and lead a typical life on earth

Or to speed past the sky,

Past the clouds and the air, to that inordinate abyss.

My heart aches to climb into that rocket and soar into the somber obscurity,

To reveal the unknown.

But my mind wants my feet on the earth, only consenting for my head to abide in the clouds.

Oh, but what I would give to set foot on a land such as Neptune...

To saunter across the glacial, bouldered terrain,

To float over the periphery in its hydrogen, helium, and slightly methane-filled atmosphere

My body craves to stand at its highest peak,

Feeling its one thousand, two hundred forty two mile per hour winds

Race over my body;

Inflating my lungs, permeating my very essence;

Finally allowing me to dismiss the tumult of this earth.

Though my mind is terrified of that vast, inconceivable new world,

My heart cannot take one more breath from this terrestrial atmosphere.

For I am a spaceman, and that is where I belong.

My first run.

Dear Blog,

today I wrote a short poem about being a Zombie. It goes like this:

I am a zombie.
My joints are stiff
and my skin is sloughing off.
I wear my blood on the outside now.

In retrospect, this sounds more grotesque than I originally intended. But that's alright. It's more about having the flu and an epic nose bleed than being a zombie, but I saw a correlation.

So lately I've been trying to choose a major for college, and I've been considering Biology or Psychology or some other jazz, but I think I'm actually leaning towards being a dinosaur instead. I mean, if I were a dinosaur, I could be GIGANTIC! And who would ever beat me out of a job? If I were interviewing for a prestigious management position in a posh New York advertising firm, my interviewer would say,

"Gosh, Alisa, we have a lot of other applicants for this position, but no one else here seems to have the Dinosaur credentials you have. You're hired!"

And then I would win.

P.S. - This pen literally baffled me today.
