To flee, or not to flee: that is the question:
Whether it is more reputable to stay and lead a typical life on earth
Or to speed past the sky,
Past the clouds and the air, to that inordinate abyss.
My heart aches to climb into that rocket and soar into the somber obscurity,
To reveal the unknown.
But my mind wants my feet on the earth, only consenting for my head to abide in the clouds.
Oh, but what I would give to set foot on a land such as
To saunter across the glacial, bouldered terrain,
To float over the periphery in its hydrogen, helium, and slightly methane-filled atmosphere
My body craves to stand at its highest peak,
Feeling its one thousand, two hundred forty two mile per hour winds
Race over my body;
Inflating my lungs, permeating my very essence;
Finally allowing me to dismiss the tumult of this earth.
Though my mind is terrified of that vast, inconceivable new world,
My heart cannot take one more breath from this terrestrial atmosphere.
For I am a spaceman, and that is where I belong.
